For kids, nothing beats Saturday morning cartoons, except maybe learning how to draw them. This app is designed to walk you and your kids through the entire process of learning to draw cartoon characters.

And even though were convinced this is the best drawing app out there, were constantly trying to improve. So if you run into any issues while using this or any of our other apps, please let us know by emailing [email protected].

By the end of the course, youll know how to draw:

• The whole SpongeBob universe—characters, interiors and background
• Halloween-themed characters like Jack Skellington, Grim and Count Duckula

And well be adding more lessons each month!

* Characters from Mario Brothers, including Luigi, Princess Peach and Yoshi
* Characters from Lion King, including Scar, Timon and Pumba

Even though the app starts out with the basics of the proper technique to hold a pencil and how to draw lines and curves, it quickly progresses to more advanced skills including:

• Turning basic shapes into characters
• Adding expressions and scenery
• Drawing characters in different positions
• Building whole scenes with a background and multiple characters
• Putting on the finishing touches like inking, coloring and shading

Using this app, youll be able to track your progress through Mahalos high-quality drawing video series, taught by drawing expert Ken OBrien. Ken has worked as a level designer and storyboard artist for several video games, including the SpongeBob Wii game "Creature from the Krusty Krab" and majored in art and animation at Cal Arts.

Pros and cons of How to Draw! app for iPhone and iPad

How to Draw! app good for

This is awesome i love this app I love drawing and it is just awesome Add me as a friend on facebook aubrey Pinkham and it will show a redis back grand like a sun sit
Great app guys I cant wait to show my friends at the end of the break all my doodles! After every lesson I show my brothers and parents my pictures! I ❤ learn to draw! Totally worth $1.99! Most apps I buy arent wort it but this ones a keeper! At first I bought the lite or free version and I was like " what? These are all the lessons you get??" I did the anyways but without all the other lessons its more difficult. P.S. Kenny, youre an amazing drawer Ill never be able to be as good as you!

Some bad moments

This is a decent app and it teaches sound principles but the app previews make you think youre going to get a more interactive experience. Good lessons but for kids it should be more geared towards them and more interactive for the money spent.
Mahalos "How To Draw" is a fun application that helps people learn how to draw. It takes you on a step by step journey from learning how to hold a pencil to training your drawing muscles, and from learning how to draw shapes to making those shapes into characters. The videos are very informative dont just limit you to learning how to draw stick figures or random characters. The first video series moves from the basics of drawing to learning how to draw Sponge Bob Squarepants, Bikini Bottom, the other characters and more. For fans of this great cartoon, learning how to draw your favorite characters is exciting. Its amazing how you go from a blank white screen to an action packed drawing. This program will offer packs each month to learn how to draw other popular characters like the Mario Brothers and the Disney movie the Lion King. Kenny O. is your expert artist and host of this application. His personality and charisma are engaging and allows users to have a more enjoyable experience.
Im not sure what age group this app is trying to reach. Seems a little complicated for a smaller child( a lot of talking ). Better for an older child or an aspiring artist.
So much content. And the instructor Kenny O’ is so encouraging and funny. A must for SpongeBob fans, but the lessons here could really be used to draw anything. I have no drawing experience and I got a lot out of this, but I think it would be good for all skill levels.
I really enjoyed using How to Draw even though they use cartoon characters to teach you the basics. Since the app covers all types of basic drawing preparation like choosing materials and holding your pencil, it really gives you what you need to learn other types of drawing. My drawings didnt turn out as good as the examples the instructor made, but I did see improvement as I followed the lessons. I think this app is mostly aimed at kids and the parents of children. It would be nice for the company to offer a version of this app that is for adults. I do find it encouraging that they add more drawing lessons on a regular basis. This makes it worth the cost of the app. If it just had the few lessons that it first started with, it wouldnt be worth the price.
We have an 8 year old niece that comes over a few times a week to play and when our children are napping, she loves to play the iPad. She also loves Spongebob; so this was a great app for her to try out. My husband is a middle school art teacher, so we are a very creative family, if you will, with a lot of drive to test out our creativity. This app was easy to navigate and understand, was clearly labeled and fun! The downfall was that it did hang up a lot when trying to view the videos. There were times when we would have to get out of the app and re-enter it in order to continue to watch the videos. $9.99 was a little expensive for the content, as you can buy art books that teach similar things for about $4 to $5; although it is helpful to have somebody talking you through the steps. If the hanging up could be fixed, it would have been easier to follow.
